I'm a French Knucklehead
... well, guess you know that...

Hi Knuckleheads,

So yesterday evening there was a party at home for my wife's XXth (censored) birthday. Friends were invited, and so were invited some teens who are our daughter's college mates.

A bit late in the evening, one of our daughter's friends, Nico, asks me if he can have a look at my bass (SR5) and amp (MarkBass). And so, less than 2 minutes later, the walls of the house are trembling since I have tweaked the volume at 9 o'clock, which is pretty loud indoor.

While playing, I notice that, probable due to many temperature and humidity variations in weather these latest days, I have some fret buzz. Oh well.

Later we go to bed, around midnight. Then around 3:30 AM, I wake up (can't remember why I woke up so early). And I think again I'll have to make a small adjust to the setup of my SR5. And this thing starts to bother me, more and more, keeping me from sleeping again. So around 3:45 AM I finally decide to get out of bed, and yes, today my wife is laughing, trying to figure out that while everyone was deep asleep, I was doing a setup on my bass at 3:45 AM... ;)

hehehe :)

funny story! :D

i guess we all know that feeling.. just cant rest till the job is properly done... hehe

MrM

ps: she turned 29 second year in a row??? :P ;)

I'll bet if you "tweaked the volume at 9 o'clock, which is pretty loud indoor"
to test your setup at 4:30 am you wouldn't have a laughing wife in the morning...:p

Been there, done that. Yes, others may not understand, but we will here. Fret buzz drives me up the wall, especially in recording. I do know otheres who do not mind it though, never have understood that.

Glad you have your problem solved. I know it is great feeling when the bass falls back where it should be and that sweet spot is there again!

Don't know if it is just me, but I like a little fret buzz - brings out a 'growl' that you wont otherwise get.

Funny story.

Skinny stringers do this, too.

And, the more I think about it, it could be taxes, a report, an article that I read that didn't make sense and needs to be re-read, or any number of things that will do this to me. Not just guitars.

Hard to sleep if all's not well, I guess.

Great story, thanks for the post.
