As a long time Ibanez RG player I actually prefer basswood for my guitars. I have noticed that the basswood on my Petrucci sounds much more resonant than my Ibanez which leads me to believe that EBMM is more selective in the quality of basswood for their guitars. I have also noticed this when comparing the Axis to the Wolfgang. To my ears the Axis had a more rich acoustic sound.

I would admit that my JP doesn't sustain as long as my old PRS but it sustains very well.

Don't mean to upset anyone playing Ibanez with my comment. It just seems to me that many of the people i know around here play Ibanez because it's cheap and it's what their friends play, and they refuse to try anything new. It's our job to spread the word about MM and convert some of these peeps to quality gear.

I don't think you upset anyone, Doug. Heck, I own a few Ib@nez myself, and I never disliked them for any reason. (Still don't.) However, I haven't played any of them since I got my JP6, and I don't feel compelled to, either! ;)
