I was wondering if anyone who has seen or tried the gamechanger could answer me this: What happens to the volume when you split a coil or have it out of phase?

Traditionally in a fully analog system without a pre-amp, there will be a volume drop when you split coils or wire it OOP etc etc.

Does the gamechanger address this considering it's analog?

If so, it's REALLY amazing! Anyone?

If you watch the videos, the volume does indeed drop in the parallel positions relative to the series positions. Watch throughout video 3 with Dave Larue and BP, it's quite obvious. Watch some of the videos of the 25th anniversary guitars and basses and you'll see a similar thing. Remember, many people like that volume drop, it gives them a rhythm tone in the parallel positions and a sort of lead boost in the series positions.

The GC is a switching system. Seeing as how BP has stated over and over again that the signal is not touched and does not interfere with the pickups themselves that it would not be that way. Honestly I wouldn't like it. That's why I love my 25th so much. The different outputs in series or parallel contribute to the ten distinct tones. I like to compare series and parallel to modern vs vintage output. Also they behave differently
In series and parallel.

Going from position 3 from parallel to series is a beautiful clean boost. I love it.

You still get the differences in volume when switching between parallel and series!

One thing that amazed me the most was how using coils 1s 3rev 5s sounded different than using 5s 3rev 1s.

There are a TON of usable sounds in there. I've already got ideas for specific songs w/ my band that I want to try out when I get mine.

Until people try the game changer I think people will scratch their heads and wonder how you can go from a 5 way switch to total freedom. Have faith guys, Steve Morse loves it and keeps saying publicly he can't wait till he gets it on his guitar.

Well, I'm a card carrying fan of the GC and have even gained the fanboy label to prove it!!

I hope it makes it's way to a base model like a Silhouette, because the Reflex+Gamechanger is way out of my league/budget.

Ok Pete, you lost me there... Hahaha!!!:D I think I'll have to go try one out for sure... only problem, it'll cost me an arm here because of my local dealer. *sigh*

I put coils 1, 3, and 5 in series starting with coil 1, and reversed the phase on coil 3. I stored this sound as position 1.

I then put coils 5, 3, and 1 in series starting with coil 5, again with reverse phase on coil 3, and stored that sound as position 2.

Flipping the toggle between positions 1 and 2 enabled me to hear that simply changing the order of the coils gave slightly different sounds.

This was through an ENGL SM head and cab.
