I have just bought a lovely SUB5 bass, active 2EQ.
The previous owner had installed a Seymour Duncan Basslines SMB-5D (ceramic) pickup. It sounds great, no doubt, but I wish it were a bit more like my Stingray, just with 5 strings.
Since the Stingray has alnico pickups, I'm guessing this is at least part of the equation I need to solve...
The previous owner of this SUB5 had kept the original (alnico) pickup and gave it to me. Also, as it turns out, I have a Seymour Duncan Baslines SMB-5A (alnico) in my drawer (something I bought a while ago for another rpoject and still hadn't been used).
I was just wondering whether anybody has played with SUB5 replacement pickups and what their experiences were.
I'll probably just try all three pickups and see which one I prefer, but I'd appreciate any comments from someone who has a SUB5 and maybe has tried other pickups.
Just looking for a more SR4 type of sound... with an extra string.
