Hello people, I am new to the forum, although i ve been reading a lot in the past years.
I am a guitarist and own several quality instruments including an Axis and 2 Petrucci models that I owned. I really LOVE the quality and sound of the EBMM instruments and decided to go for one more... this time it would be the Steve Morse model.
I live in Greece and found a beautiful Morse blue burst model with floyd, i think it is around 20070-2008 era.
it is in mint condition, except from some minimal fret wear, mostly around the seventh fret.
The price asking is 1200 euro, which i consider fair, but on the other hand I see the Dark Lord that i like also.
Which one would you prefer, a tremolo blue burst 4-pickup-morse, or a BFR Dark Lord that should go around 2000 $???

Thanks in advance and hope to see you all around

it's all up to you my friend; 2 diffrents guitars one with a floyd 4 pups configuration and a certain neck shape and the other one with a 3 pups configuration a big neck and no trem.

you need to decide what is the most important for your type of playing.

Personaly I don't like floyds so I would go for the other one

So, the neck is different between the two???
I really fell in love with the neck of the first one that i tried, so probably this would be a safer choice for me...
I ll check if I can find the Darklord, also , to try it at least, to check if the neck fits my hand.
Thank you so much my friend!!

If you like the neck on the standard model, I would just go with that. Besides, finding a Darklord to test in Europe may be impossible! Another option is to look for a Y2D, same neck as the Morse standard. Either way, they are excellent guitars, I own(ed) both. Good luck!

I love floyds and that is a great guitar.

I actually tried both at a Guitar Center in a nearby town (mine didn't have them) so that I could play both side by side. I heard the Darklord neck is chunkier and that is definately the case. It's nice, don't get me wrong, but the regular Morse I tried was nice and thin like I like necks. To me, that's the most important thing because you can influence tone a lot with your amp, but you can't change the neck.

Good luck, you can't go wrong with either guitar.

+1! a Y2D is killer! i prefer it over the regular morse. it has more top-end because of the maple-top and for me, one single coil is enough.
fixed bridge or floyd....both are great!

....nearly, you just have to travel to nürnberg / germany :D

the Dark Lord has a les paul shape neck, it´s a lot fatter as the regular Morse / Y2D neck and this gives the guitar a fatter tone - maybe it´s the roasted maple as well which colors the tone of the guitar.
played the yesterdays rehearsal with the Dark Lord and it rocks like hell! (as long as you like this fat wide neck)

steve morse guitars are heavy. but they have that midrange killer tone!!! i love my Steve Morse Model...and you can play everything you want... is really versatile... and with the fixed bridge it sustains like forever!!! Im' still deciding between another steve morse or the axis

I got a Darklord a bouple of weeks ago. I made a guy an offer for one, and to my suprise he took it.
The neck is not that big. It is bigger than my AL MM-90 but smaller than a Warmoth Fatback.
Also, mine is not that heavy. It is about a medium weight.
I am certaily no shredder but more of a blues rocker.
I was totally suprised at how "Vintage" that guitar can sound if you play it through Fender type amps.
It can cover pretty much everything. There is a sweet spot for that middle pickup....if you raise it up for the single coil (only) to be louder, you change the bridge/middle combo quite a bit. Given teh vintage character of this guitar, I wonder if the pups are the same as the Y2D.
Bottom line, it is not a one trick pony at all. It might be the best guitar I have ever held in fact.
