Hope this is ok to post, but we're guitarists and bassists here, so I thought this might be an appropriate place to let people know...
Just in case you or somebody you know would be interested, I'm accepting resumes for a guitar/bass instructor at the Raleigh Music Academy. If the right person is available, it could strictly be for guitar instruction. Someone who teaches both guitar and bass would probably be even more useful though. Some things need to play themselves out first before this would happen, and that's why I can't say with 100% certainty that there is a "full-time" guitar instruction slot open, but that would likely depend on the new instructor. I'm trying to move in the right direction and it would be good to talk to some teachers at this point and see who might be available.
Qualifications should include several years of teaching experience where you can demonstrate (through references and/or letters of recommendation) that you competently and successfully handled a large number of private students of all ages and skill levels. A music degree, while helpful, is certainly not necessary. I am more interested in an honest, respectful instructor who has good people skills, and who has a good understanding of how to instruct and motivate all types of students. You should also be able to demonstrate your command of the instrument through recorded materials and/or an audition. If you have done clinics or workshops and have the ability to instruct larger groups in that respect, that would be a plus. Serious instructors only please.
I realize this is all very general, but I can be more specific if need be through email or phone. You can contact me through the RMA's website.
Thanks,
Paul
