hey everyone, i just got a set of EMG-81's about two months ago and i was just curious how much life you active users got outa your batteries. just wanna know how often i'm gonna have to change the damn battery. i always unplug my guitar when not playing so i don't drain the battery. thanks for all your inputs.

Depends on how many hours you play plugged in.
I think the DG20's I put in my strat said 250 hours, but I don't play that guitar all that much.

The Eb's I play the most (LUKES) I change about every 2 months to be safe. It's cheap and access is easy so I don't sweat it.

yeah my guitar is a B*tch to change teh battery, i put my emgs in aftermarket and the control cavity is so small the battery barly fits in there. it lays right on top of the pickup wires and the cavity actually had to have a few edges routed off to even fit the battery. its insane. i'm thinking of maybe down the line switching back to passive set for it just because how tight it is. the cavity cover fits flush against the battery surface. lol

i just read on EMG's website that the 81 and 85 pickups have 3,000 hour battery life. if thats true, i should have no problem being the fact i play like half an hour a day. people told me they could go a year, so if i change yearly, thats plenty good for me.
