I suppose you could trade your Silo for one with a trem, definitely closer to the JP trem than a hardtail haha. Kind of off-topic, but does anyone know if the smooth saddles from the JP trem could fit on a Music Man vintage tremolo bridge? Just curious.

I would look for another guitar that fit your needs rather than devaluing the one you already own....just me sayin'....but again trying to retrofit parts on a guitar that wasnt made for it......can spell disaster....."nothing ever goes as planned" and "its never as easy as it looks" are some adages that come to mind hahahaha

No matter how skilled the luthier is (if you can find one who agrees to do the trick) - it would always look kinda DYI...
Besides from that: how will you get a Petrucci trem as a replacement? They're not for sale as replacement parts - except for EBMM Petrucci models (and then only if you send back the old one, a.f.a.i.k.)

I'd look out for a 2nd hand JP6 if you're into the trem thing.

My 2c...

Some of the worst butcher jobs I have ever seen on guitars have been bridge modifications by folks who should have never been attempting it. Not to say that you can't do it, but I'd leave it be.

Can't you just buy a pedal that will add tremolo? :D

I have a Whammy. You can do some Vai stuff with it like divebombs and that wah attack when you pick with the trem arm down and bring it up, but you can't do vibrato and you can't do double stops. Plus it sucks tone, so you'll need a bypass box if you want it permanently in your signal chain. Nah, just get a used JP! I've seen good prices out there lately.

The JP trem is the same as the vintage trem on a Silo, just with a different appearance. So, you could just trade it for one with a tremelo ;)
