Adding a Preamp to a SUB 5

I'm a frequent poster on Talkbass and this subject came up on their electronics forum. And I remembered I was a member here too so here we go

I've got a sub 5 and want to add a Preamp to it . being unemployed right now knocks out all the kits available. I'm pretty good with a soldering iron so I'm planning on a DIY any schematics available? or generic preamp kits to add on to? I've tried searching but all I seem to get is Tube amps.

I had a passive SUB 5 and ran it through an Aguilar DB 924 stompbox pre. The Aggie really helped brighten and fatten the tone, plus I liked the fact I could use it with other basses.
