Well for one thing, it lets the company know when and where you bought your instrument as well as making the warranty valid if I'm not mistaken.

Then you should have specified that you have purchased a used instrument not a brand new one. In that case chances are the previous owner has already registered it and he/she alone could write to Ernie Ball Customer Service giving full details of the new owner (you) so that if there is a warranty period still in place, that period can be passed on to you.

Thanks for this thread. I knew I wanted to register the Axis that I got in February, but it just slipped my mind. Did it online and it didn't even hurt.

i believe that the "free strings when u register" program has been over for quite a while in the USA.

Also - i dunno if you can register a used guitar/bass - but I do know that a user guitar/bass does not carry a warranty.

Darn! Strings can become an expense, especially when you have a bunch of guitars which all get played and need string changes every so often.

Start using the coated slinky's on your 6's. I just had to change my coated slinky's on my Koa the other day. And they were two months old and still sounded and felt great, but had just started to corrode. That should save you some cash in the long run.

I never got any free strings on any of my new purchases since 97. When was the promotion anyway?

It said so on the registration card on the inside of the case....if you read the card it says ...free strings for registering.....i guess you have never read the hang tags on your guitars since 97 hahahaha,,,,my BFR has a different warranty card that has NO mention of free strings ....

Well. I use 10s on everything. So buying a box of RPS 10s and a 6 pack of .056 strings for the BFR 7s is just convenient. I could start using the coated sets, but that just means I'd have to order different stuff.

I guess I’m just lazy.

I registered all of mine online. The strings aren't a big issue. These days companies have to save as much money as they can. Giving away an extra set of strings isn't very cost effective.
