Looking to buy a Axis soon and have narrowed it down to a few. I currently have a Axis, Axis Hardtail, and a ASS Hardtail. Looking into a ASS with Piezo and a tremlo. Question, is the ASS with trem bidirectional? Also what is the KOA Axis? Appreciate any help. I am interested in a JP6 as well but think the pup selector switch will be in the way. Does any of the JP6 users have this problem?

The Axis is dive only from the factory. Though you can set it to float a little bit.

The KOA Axis is a Axis with a KOA (I'm assuming) top which will only be available through Musicians Friend.

I wouldnt let the pickups selector on the JP put you off one

its actually very handy having it positioned where it is

but the again I have a very tight picking style, but even rhythm work it never bothered me :)

as for the bidirectional trem on an ASS I dont think it can swing both ways!!!

probably best waiting for someone in the know Im just goin off something I think I remember reading

When I played the JP6, It was perfectly comfortable. The neck was perfect. And If you notice if you have ever watched JP talk about his guitars, he will say that he likes the postition of his toggle switch because he doesnt bump it while playing. Like a Strat.

Thanks for the help on the JP. I would love to have one but the toggle position scars me, perhaps I'll try it anyway. If the ASS trem is only one direction I think I'll stay away sense the Axis serves it's purpose. Maybe the JP w/peizo is the ticket......

Patrick whats up, hope your digging the hardtail - you should really play a JP first before purchase, the neck is quite different than the axis/silo - its much wider and thinner, it didnt agree with me at all, it wasnt bad but I prefer the axis/silo/Al necks better, you should really try a silo special as your next purchase, you cant go wrong with one but the bridge is same as the ASS, vintage trem that site flat on the body, the only floating MM is the JP - russ

Yeah that Hardtail is awesome. I've played nothing else since. Your right Lock-ny, the sustain is unreal. I've thought about the Silo as well but have really taken to the Axis, but I really want to look at other EB's too. Now that I know the ASS trem isn't floating I'll look at the JP and Silo for sure. I'll probably sell the LP, it's the only way I can get another guitar at the moment, hate to do it but it never gets played and it just doesn't fit my hand like a Ball, no since in keeping it if it's not gonna get played. The EB addiction's got me. Thanks for all the help.

The Axis Super Sport with piezo is great. You can set the trem up to float (I bought mine second hand and this was the way that it came to me). It works very well in this configuration, especially for trem 'warbles'.

You can get a great variety of tones as well, using positions 2 & 4 give you very nice 'chimey' cleans, whereas 1, 3 & 5 really show off the humbuckers well. Put through a good valve amp you'll hjave a super-versatile guitar that can cover pretty much any style.

Put the piezo through a PA, possibly with a light touch of chorus and reverb for occasional effect and you'll blow people away with the overall sound from the one guitar.
