Hey guys,
I hope i wont get murdered for asking this question.im am in the process of changing my machine heads on my guitar which isnt a musicman.it is gibson LP.please give me some advice as i have had tuning problems the last few years and my guitar tech repair guy has advised me to change tuning pegs so i bought grovers and he is fitting them this week for me.believe me i have explored every other problem but the vintage pegs that come with the LP are not great(so ive heard)and have become looser as time goes on.i have asked this question on the gibson forum but they all think im making amistake and that i havent got aclue about guitars.

P.S im am new to the forum and am awaiting areal guitar in 3 weeks time hopefully i will have it by then
BFR JP6 BABBBBBBBYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!only the best will do!

P.P.S i hope the fact i am joining your family soon that such a question might be allowed.

Grovers are cool, have them on my LP, too. I don't think it's a mistake. Go over to the Les Paul Forum. Lots of guys there which have changed to Grovers.
I wouldn't enlarge the holes only if it's a vintage guitar (age 30+)

i have had dozens & dozens of customers come to me wanting new tuners for their les pauls. & it has always actually been the nut slots causing their tuning problems....... not their tuning keys. (except for one guy who dropped his guitar on the peg ) . the stock ones arent fancy.....but they dont slip.
i've had to recarve nut slots on brand new 7k dollar les pauls nunerous times.

if you feel you must really change them.........find a brand that will fit the exisisting holes. typically...... grovers will require reaming the pegholes. gotah i think makes some VERY good replacement ones that will look correct.......& fit right in.
