Ain't No Chicken (rough demo)

another day another song for my future humble guitar solo stuff here's the rough demo of Ain't No Chicken song, i think it's a lil bit country rock flavor. Definitely still need to put some harmony ideas and stuff, but so far i think it's decent enough to hear.

As usual any input, ideas and comments would be much appreciated. I'm still learning in this business..so help me out will ya , thanks.

Sounds good! I love the riffs and the rhythms are great. Good variety of riffs, too. For constructive criticism, I think some of the playing could be tighter, or maybe more on time. It sounds like it floats a bit in places, and it could be shored up some. Practice with a metronome could probably do this easily. Certain parts too could potentially be clearer, as the distortion covers a few notes under finger noise/slides here and there I think.

That said, you run circles around me! I could only hope to play this well one day. Nice work!

Oh, and the tone is awesome! I love it! Makes me want a LUKE.

Hey Ponch,

that's a nice piece of music! I LOVE these country/chicken pickin' approach you put to the song!

As 24th fret put it, I would agree that you should try to play more in time.
When I practise these chicken pickin' lines, I always find it useful to start rather slow and put the notes flat on the beat.
Then I try to understand what my fingers want to do and bring it up to tempo.

Soundwise I have a question: Have you tried using a tad less distortion and maybe use the middle PU? This could bring out the country flavour a little more ( but only if you were aiming into that direction, that is)?

Otherwise: very cool sound with the Luke! LOVE the dive bombs you did there

It sounds good.. you are a good player.

Here is my advice:

+1 on what the guys said about timing, it sounds like it drags in multiple spots.

Also, how about throwing some different kind of licks in there? Sounds like you were using a lot of the same shapes throughout the song. Some variety would be cool.

Other than that, you're tone is awesome, and the playing is mostly clean.

It's late at nite and I was try to lay some melodic ideas on my head to make sure if they works or not, some of em definitely need to have revision and as the sound wise I thought that would be cool if it's less distortion, thanks again everyone !

Most everyone seems to use such saturated distortion these days. Doesn't even sound like a guitar by the time it's been heavily processed. I get it, but I really think it's way overdone.

I hear you bro Candid ,

Here's a lil bit story, it's weird but I've chose the distortion sound because I got inspired by Shaun Baxter with his Metal Jazz sound, he uses distortion to play over some jazzy fusion sound from his album, I thought it would be nice to give it a try a different sound to play this country-esque tune. Maybe I will stick with this distortion for my personal taste and yes I will make this tune in shape when i got a chance to work on it later!

haha It's funny cause I've never really listen to John 5 to be honest, my country stuff influenced most of em coming from Steve Trovato and some of Greg Koch music.
