Finally made up my mind. Been swingin' between Silo's, Albert's, and occasionally Lukes. After seeing and meeting Albert last week, I just had to follow my heart and and get an AL. I've struck a deal on a 2006 Vintage Sunburst hardtail SSS. Shell pickguard (not too sure about that though, would prefer a white pearloid I think). All being well I collect her (....or him in this case I suppose)....or IT tomorrow. Just out of interest, how easy is it to get replacement pickguards, and are the pickup covers interchangeable ?

Changing the guard is realtively easy, as well as the pickup covers. HOWEVER, if you intend to also change the pickup covers, make sure you get some that are vintage height (DiMarzio is the only place I know that recognizes and produces the different SC heights).

Oh, and getting a PG is easy - any EBMM dealer can order you one. OR (I think) you can call customer service directly and order that way too.

Good luck.

I think you'll love the guard if you just fit it with cream coloured PU covers, switch tip and knobs... Congrats on an amazing guitar!

Cheers

The good news is, he's staying away from moonstone! (nothing wrong with it per se, just putting it on vintage SB is like, well, uh,.......putting black on pretty green sparkly??? ;) )

Congrats! This one was on ebay wasnt it? Or is it new? You made the right choice anyway, the AL just RULES!

Yes it was Rob, but done it directly through the shop. Been watching for a while It's a 2006, and as new apparently (not actually seen it yet). It's only an hours drive from me, so I'll be down there for them opening tomorrow you can bet !!

This is Spud reporting back for duty before I go back up to the badlands (Scotland!;)).

I love this AL as it is and if you search for my thread on looking inside an AL you can see in the pictures one of the pickup covers removed. Its not too difficult a job to do especially if you get someone to do it for you ! lol

Kick out Spud indeed - ha! I'll only leave on the orders of the big man himself .....

Man...I couldn't believe it, this Albert is immaculate, still with warranty card and set of strap locks. Guess what ?...THE TORTOISESHELL IS STAYING !! It is beautiful ! The original photos must have had too much flash on it...but in the flesh it blends perfectly. The grain of the Ash is stunning and the neck has a nice birdseye on the fretboard as well as the back. As a choice Vintage SB wouldn't have been my first choice from website pics, but I think hanging on a wall it quite possibly would have been. It was hanging next to a lovely PRS hollowbody, blue flamed. Lovely guitar but it left me cold really, The AL jumped out me and said 'Oi you're here for me..Take me home ! !!. I look forward to lifetime membership :D
