tvanveen and I attenended a jam yesterday in Manassas Virginia..organized and put on by a group of guys and gals over at the Fender Discussion Page. There was I believe 30+ members of the forum in attendence, and more fender guitars than you could shake a stick at.

Tom and I brought EB/MM's...lol and rocked the place!

Tom and his band(you guys ARE a band right? Do ya have a name?) were very tasteful and tight, and should be gigging around the NoVa region soon! Don't let Tom sell himself short, he knows what to do when you put a guitar in his hands. Thanks for letting me sit in!

Way to go guys! Spread the word... Keep the faith...

Were there any comments about your guitars? Did any of the Strat'n'Tele slingers try 'em out? And if they did, what'd they think?

yeah a couple of guys checked mine out and everybody's first impression is the feel of the neck is 'very nice', but honestly there were so many nice guitars there floating around..custom shop fenders and a vintage SG and Les Paul. Some Reverends and even a couple of very nice home built warmoths types that you couldn't go gaga over any one instrument for very long before somebody else pulled out something sweet...

but, there was absolutely no gear snobbery at all from anyone.

one guy did tell me that the color green of my Luke was the same color as his old station wagon..lol

Doc, thanks for sitting in with us, definitely made the song....I only wish I had known which amp you were plugged into so I could turn you up.

Guys, the doctor can rip it up.

We (the "band") don't have a name, and I'm not sure if we're a band or not...the bass player is an old pal I just started playing with about 6 months ago. Before that I had never played with other musicians. The drummer used to work with the bass player, and the 3 of us just always seem to be the ones that show up at the basement....

I taught them the Gillian Welch tune one day on the off chance Ash (my girlfriend) would tag along and be prodded to sing it. When she did we were all floored.

Anyway, that was about the time the jam was starting to get organized, maybe 2 months ago. Ash said she'd do it with me, then the guys said they'd do it, and there you have it.

I don't know what we'll do next...I'm just happy they'll play with me in the basement!

Jimi, I brought my "beater" AL, the old black hardtail, so I didn't get any comments except from doc. I did get one person who asked me what it was, and after I told them they gave me the blank "oh."

I probably would have gotten some comments if I had brought the "pretty" AL, but I wasn't looking for attention. You'll see what I mean when the pics get posted...there's one of doc in a good rock star pose..I'm hidden behind him and all you can see is my AL neck sticking out...

There was a lot of sweet gear there...a lot of very pretty strats and teles as expected. I think my favorite was the surf green tele thinline. I got to play through a SF pro reverb which I *loved*....
