Hey Al affiniciados:)

Just wondering which pu switch position YOU like most on the Albert Lee.

Myself, i'm originally a typical Telecaster player and i play R&R and country so when i try out a guitar i'm autimatically searching for a great bridge sound with lots of twang, spank or whatever you wanna call it.

The Al's bridge sound is very usefull, very funky, lots of twang and bite:D .

I'm so happy with my bender Al:p

I love 2 & 4.
The other week I fell in love with the middle position.

Today I cranked up the Marshall and played the old Cream song "Sunshine of your Love" the AL sounded great in all the positions - it creamed the guitar break

Hi AL lovers, i have some questions about AL's sound..

which pu position of AL that produce the sound you can't get from other EBMM ?

i'm curious with the bridge pick up of AL, since it has the copper plate under the pu..

can we get that bridge position sound of AL on silo s s s just by changing that silo's bridge pick up with a seymour duncan aps II flat single coil (that pu on AL) ?

what (and how big) is the influence of that AL's copper plate under the bridge pu on the sound of AL?

thx

I'm on position 1 (bridge) 90% of the time. Long-time telecaster player here.

Been using position 2 more lately. Position 5 makes up the rest.

I've actually been thinking about one of those megaswitches that would allow wiring position 3 to bridge and neck in parallel. I think it would capture even more of that tele vibe.

Just wondering here - anyone with an AL here ever rewired and tried out the sound of both the neck and bridge single coil running together? I have a Y2D, and I really like the sound of the neck + bridge sound - spectacular for rhythming!

And since my AL is on its way to my doorstep, I think its really beneficial for myself to seek advice on this :D

Please help out, guyz!

Haven't done that but i think it would sound somewhat like a Telecaster middle position.

You guys are right, all the pu's and pu combinations in the Al sound great, that must mean that combining bridge and neck pu's should sound great too.:D

To my ears the Al bridge pu is a Telecaster pu looking like a Strat pu. The little baseplate is not a copperplate but it's more like a little metal strip.

Btw, those 'quack' sounds in positions 2&4 are the best i have ever heard. Those are typical Strat tones but i never heard a Strat do them better.

Also, these are the positions Albert uses almost exclusivly, i never heard him using the bridge pu on it's own. Somewhat odd for a former Tele player:p

I'd like to do that too, but I'd also want the middle position.

I have the megaswitch setup on my AL, with position 3 giving bridge+neck - I really like it, I definitely think it's worth having. But I have been thinking about switching to a more versatile setup - I'd like to do a setup with a 4-way blade switch which would give Bridge, Bridge&Neck(parallel), Bridge+Neck(series), neck. You see this on teles sometimes. Then I'd like to add another switch which would (ideally) add the middle pickup in parallel, in series, or leave it out.
