That was my thought when I read this.
But then again, Didn't John just get his Dargie Pet???

Foggy I was surprised too but he hadn't seen one or heard about it. He liked the martini inlays and the colour. He mentioned the BFRs that got delivered to him in Europe but no Dargies. Truly a gentleman and one of the greats.

Just an addendum to Albert's appearance at The Arts clinic. We've had Albert for a clinic before last year, so I was really looking forward to this one. Besides, I've been playing my 2006 Albert Lee Limited Edition for about a year now, and wanted Albert to sign the backplate like he did my Silo last year. I''m not one for signed pictures and so on, but an Albert signature on an Albert Signature guitar increases the Mojo Factor easily tenfold. Besides, we had decided to put together an opening act for The Man Himself. I grabbed by brother Paul on MM 5-string, Grant Taylor from The Salads on drums, myself on Albert Ltd and lead vox, and our own Juno-winner Mike Bowell on lead/ Honeyburst Albert (all these guys work for The Arts). We were really pumped for this one, as it's not often you get to open for somebody like Albert. About thirty seconds into the first song, Hiatt's "Memphis In the Meantime", Mike visibly relaxed and smiled, Grant saw the smile and his groove locked-up, and the rest of the half-hour was magic! Mike was getting ovations for every solo, as it seemed our capacity audience was also ready to rock (when I've got a player like Mike on lead, I play a lot of rhythm...). Then Albert came on and enthralled us with tales of his life/career, punctuated by some incredible playing. I personally enjoyed when he was talking about his near-signature use of delay, saying you had to just concentrate on the notes you were playing, not the mix coming out of the amp. He played a classic example, then showed us how NOT to do it by playing to the mix, with the attendent "trainwreck" of colliding echoes. Really funny.
For those of you who have not had the luck/pleasure of seeing Albert at a clinic, it is something you MUST DO! I can't stress enough, this is NOT OPTIONAL! Rarely do you encounter a person whose personality and charm equal his enormous talent! And what a superb ambassador for Ernie Ball Musicman, whose guitars equal the stature of their endorsing artists. Quick thanks of course to Albert, to our fave rep Glenn Booth for his help coordinating, and to EBMM for making the guitars that make all this possible! A night I will never forget!-Eric/Lance
