I'd like to beef up the sound of my SSS. In addition I'm a little weary about the silent circuit.
*The hum levels when the batter is taken out is small as it is
*With the battery in, radio interference are CRAZY. I can hear the radio clear as day through my amp. But as soon as I remove the battery, or switch to position 2 or 4, the interference go away

Now mind you it's VERY rainy around here, especially today. It may make things worse with those single coils. Anyway...

Is the wiring on these easily modifiable, accounting for the silent circuit? I.e. can I easily swap out pickups or put in a single-coil-sized humbucker, and not worry about the coil?

Then I guess, since I had no interference in positions 2/4, I guess the coil is wired only for 1/3/5, which may indeed complicate things (I had in mind a bridge humbucker with an auto-split for position 4, and likely split bridge + neck on position 3).

... I do live close to a radio transmitter :( Top of Capitol Hill on Seattle. There's three huge antennas about 200 yards from where I live.

Reason I mention the rain is because the same issue happens with my monitors (2 sets), but somehow it's only really bad when it's raining. Go figure. It was bad during fall, winter, and spring when it rains every single day, but didn't get interference once during summer!
