how much does an album review sway your decision to buy an album? for instance, i wasn't sure about buying charlotte sometimes' "waves and the both of us" but all the reviews ive read speak highly of it. i had listened to some of the music at charlottesomtimes.imeem.com that umgd put up, but was still on the fence until i read the good press it got.

I think it really depends on the reviewer.

If you're familiar with a columnist's taste and his criteria for "good music" then you know what to expect getting the CD.

To be honest with ya, I think the best reviews are fan reviews done on internet communities like this.

It matters more when I take into account which band it is. Personally, music reviews are the most subjective kind of reviews because EVERYONE has a slight variation in their tastes and, to be honest, they can never convey what the music, well, SOUNDS like. More-so than movie reviews etc.

So, for DT, I own all the albums and ignore the reviews prior to purchasing them. I don't like Falling Into Infinity that much, and if you check out the fanbase's reviews, it seems it's a very hit or miss sort of thing.

Hope that made sense.
