I just thought I'd create a single comprehensive thread of some of Alex Hutchings' youtube videos. This guy is just plan phenomenal. There are some players who simply have "it" and Alex is absolutely one of them. Amazing technical prowess, a feel for the music, and insane groove. I always felt like legato was more of a supplemental technique, not preferring it as a main staple for lead or melody playing, but this is just another level. Enjoy!

This guy has some incredible facial expressions when he plays ! But what a player ! He really kick my ASS every time I see his videos. Great inspiration for us, poor soul who do not have such talent ...

I think the new album may be out soon. Everyone has been looking forward to it, but he has an Eric Johnson level of perfectionism. Takes forever, but assured good stuff!

To be honest I am not familiar with him. Thanks for posting Scoobs as the guy is phenomenal! For some players who never get when a guitarist says they rarely listen to other players but to different instruments this is a great example. His choice of notes and playing style are very horn inspired, as if he was listening to Miles Davis for example.

Yeah. the groove and feeling is definitely jazz like. What I love about Alex most though is the downright amazing phrasing. AMAZING

Well said HTS...Alex was the reason I jumped on my Axis Sport (not SS). It was the "righteous tone" Alex was getting from the Axis. And his phrasing is very tasty indeed. Both Alex & Jamie Humphries inspire me to play...no doubt !
