...and I'm all giggly like a schoolgirl.

Like a really MANLY schoolgirl, natch, for those of you that have heard my voice, which isn't all that girly.

Nonetheless, trades are afoot and while I shall not reveal the exact nature of what went where and who got the "One Hour In A Cheap Hotel With Lord Bovine", I can tell you that I am expecting two new basses.

1. Blue Dawn Bongo HH 5. I am strangely excited about this as my trusty old Black Sapphire HH 5er has intermittent jack problems and I am exceptionally lazy about fixing it, so I'll have a 5 HH to play again! Plus, let's admit it, Blue Dawn is one hell of a finish.

2. Dargie Delight 2.0 Bongo HS 5! This is still in production so it's not "on the horizon" just yet, but don't fret, I have things to play.

And I'm excited anew about these basses and what they do for me.

It's just FUN to get a new one every now and then, isn't it?

"DALLAS/FT. WORTH A/P, TX, US 10/08/2009 8:42 P.M. ARRIVAL SCAN"

UPS track as of 7:00 this morning- Somebodies going to be a prisoner in their house today. The Blue Dawns are pretty cool- as close to a sparkle finish as you're gonna get nowadays. The HH pickups are pretty strong on this one. There was an NOS one hanging around a local mom and pop music store awhile back, they were asking around 15 bones for it.

Now the DD2, don't get me started on how freakishly cool these are. If BP jr. keeps coming up with stuff like this, the future will be bright indeed. :)

Good morning BP. The deal is in our revised sigs. Just remember the good things in life aren't cheap. And the cheap things in life aren't good.
We'll have to have a discussion about Dargie Delight osmosis sometime, it's a very interesting subject.

Wow...My SR5 needs a new set of strings. I wonder if I could justify that with the treasurer(read wife) and say I need a new Bongo. I'll let you know how it goes. :D

Good thing you didn't take bets on this, as I would have put money on you getting an AL after your good review of them since you borrowed one from your friend. (Or is it because the AL doesn't come 5-sprung?)

You've made a good choice anyway but you do need to try a piezo loaded monster Bongo one of these days, you won't regret it, Jack

I think Jack has played a few piezo's and came up with the term "knob farm". And for the British forumers- we are aware that the term "knob" is a precious thing over there. My wife is from Liverpool and I hear it almost everyday :p ;)

I think the Big Al is a pretty cool piece of gear, but you know how it is, once you have "BONGOS FOR LIFE" tattooed in an inappropriate place it's kind of hard to stray.

Oh, I loves me some Big Al, indeed I do....but you're correct with the last bit. I gotta wait for the 5er. The Even Bigger Al, as it were.

Mark's all over this. In fact, I had the Blue Dawn HSp which went to Strummer and now is in England on vacation.

I liked the piezos on the SmallEQ fretless Bongo, but once you start adding that second pickup, it becomes too confusing for me to adjust on the fly. I mean, if it were the only bass I played, sure, I'd get used to it, but I'm not built like that.

As you all know.

I've not managed to figure out what went where and the like, but I'm going to put money on Strummer being involved at some point in either of these bass's life!

The Blue Dawn Bongo has arrived. Jeremy has given his (7 year old) stamp of approval. "I like how it goes from blue to darker blue and it kind of sparkles", he said. "THIS is my favorite color."

Hoo, they are purdy thangs, those Blue Dawn Bongos!

Thanks again, Mark. I'll be plugging it in later tonight to take it for a test drive!

I'm glad the bass got there undamaged. When my DD2 arrived a couple of weeks ago there appeared to be a forklift punch in the box about one foot from the end dead center- right where the headstock sits. There was a foot long crack in the case's outer plastic and I was fearing the worst. Upon opening the case no damage to the bass was noted and I removed the foam for inspection. The case did it's job and protected it's cargo because it was designed similar to a crash helmet- lots of impact foam encased in a a plastic shell, great design there Musicman. Brandt got another case out to me in no time and another bullet was dodged, this was Fedex if anyone is keeping score.
