I ordered mine on sheer looks and was BLOWN away by the sound.

That's funny that someone else mentioned playing telecasters their whole life. I played a tele about two weeks ago at Guitar Center and kept missing the low string because the sizing felt so different than all my AXIS's. I kept trying to play it, but it wasn't there. Really weird.

By the Way, is AXI the plural for Axis?

I just bought a maple top Super Sport instead of the rosewood Super Sport yesterday (and instead of a Luke...the Luke was awesome as well. I had a tough choice!). Both Axis guitars played wonderfully and sounded great. The notes on the rosewood seemed to pop a bit more, but it was a hardtail and the maple a vibrato. I didn't buy it because:

a. The top looks like a Diner table top, or a nice coffee table. ;)
b. The five position on the pickup switch produced total silence. I wiggled it a bit and got sound for a second.
c. it didn't have a vibrato bar on it
(in reverse order of deal killing)

The neck is beautiful on both...the rosewood feels decadent. It's a Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous neck. I could have gotten over reason a and b, but c made me a little sad for about two seconds until I grabbed the maple top Super Sport and bounded gleefully to the counter to pay for her. I don't regret it... the maple top is stunning! :) I would buy a MM maple top rosewood neck in a heartbeat! Hopefully next time...

Hmmm. That was the case with the one I tried at a GC in Austin back in May.
Congrats on your new guitar. Hope you enjoy it. Now get off the net and go play:D .

I'm in Austin. I can't believe they haven't fixed it yet. Or does that make it a used guitar if they do?

The guy that was helping me said that they would fix it if I decided to buy it. I was suprised that they would rack it back up without fixing it. Clearly, he knew there was a problem with the switch before I played it. Did they still have the 20th Ann. Silo? Man, I remember asking them if they were getting more MMs. They had a very pro- Fe*der and Gi$^on attitude. I played several PRS Gibbys they had. They couldn't touch the rosewood axis. Enjoy your new guitar.
Thanks,
