just came across a stingray 5HH (natural) with all rosewood neck. I have always loved they way they feel. The all rosewood neck on the LIII is AMAZING! However, I know that Luke switched to the the roasted neck amid complaints about the rosewoods staying true.

I would love some input on this as I'm about to spring for the stingray 5 I've always wanted...

In theory, rosewood is a softer wood and maple is harde and better capable of whitstanding pressure from the string tension. So there might be some truth to this.
On the other hand i dont often read about problems of warping rosewood necks or guitars detung faster. The truss rod inside the neck takes most of the string tension annyway. So i would say go for it.

here's one of the story's that got me worried. This is by no means the only time I've heard of this.. it's just that on this one in particular, it related to a Bass.

I will way say, Musicman seems to have completely taken care of this guy. However, I'm not sure what I would do if I didn't have my bass for months at a time....

thoughts?

What is the story you have heard of? Its not completly clear to me what you mean....
And as you have said musicman propably will take care of anny issue that would occur on a bass or a guitar so you are allways pretty safe.

But i can understand that you would rather have the safe choice so you avoid having issues all together. I live in belgium and i sure hope i never get issues with my necks because it would be quite a hassle sending a guitar back to the usa. But so far my 2 rosewood neck guitars seem as sollid as my maple neck ones.

i have a bongo with all rosewood neck. the only thing that is different from a normal maple neck is that the notes that have less sustain (eg d on the g-string) have moved, so you gotta know which bongo you are playing ;)

the wood feels warm to touch, it looks fabulous with those dark stripes in the brown rosewood.
i have not had any stability issues. just the usual seasonal adjustments (spring to summer, fall to winter)

get the bass if you can! you will have something special in your hands :)
