My user name should give you a clue!

I play a Black SR4 with a rosewood fingerboard over a birdseye maple neck. It was a '98 issue which I bought second hand in January this year.

I gig it every weekend and it is one powerful beast!

My two other left handed basses are a JayDee Supernatural Mark King 4 and a Jaydee Supernatural Celeste fretless 5.

Cool! Left handers do look cool on stage, especailly if the rest of the band are right handed, makes the band look different, if you know what i mean!!

A righty myself but as for famous lefties... I had the chance to see the Yellowjackets a couple of months ago and man, Jimmy Haslip has got to be one of the baddest cats on the planet! AND a smokin' upside down playin' Lefty! If you're not into the Yellowjackets kind of thing then check out Jing Chi it's the trio with Robben Ford on guitar, the Maestro Vinnie Coalutia(sp?) on drums, and Jimmy H. on bass .... serious fun stuff, jam band vibe with some great chord voicings :D

BTW I do right with my left and can't hold a fork to save my life in my right hand... go figure! ..... maybe I should start eating with my right hand, my jeans and my wife would probably appreciate it  :D

I don't really know that much by Kings X, i just know Doug was a lefty and he used to play a 12 string Hamer bass. My all time bass hero, Jeff Ament from Pearl Jam, also used a 12 string Hamer and that's why i noticed Doug with one in a old copy of Bass Player magazine.

As for the weird lefty thing, the guitarist in my band is left handed but plays right handed, he can't use a lefty guitar!

There is a guy called Colin Hodgkinson in the Uk who is known as "the Bass players, Bass Player!" (if you get my drift). Plays (or played?) with a band call Back Door, I think. People like Mark King cite him as a hero.

Although not traditionally thought of as a bass player, SEAL does play bass and is left handed. I seem to remember him using a black bass in the "Crazy video" - Shame that everyone thinks he has lot his genius with the most recent album. I still love listening to his first two albums 10 years down the road.

There are a couple of web sites set up specifically for left handed bass players around the world. I was in contact with one guy in Germany who runs a site but I can't remember the URL off the top of my head - but it was something obvious.

Both my brother - who is the guitarist in our band - and I are left-handed and the guy I replaced as bass player in the band 10 years ago was also a lefty.

There are more of us around than the manufacturers would have you believe!!!

Definately! He'd look cool with a Ray. If he's reading this, he can borrow mine!

If he is reading this, then he can bugger off and buy himself one - and buy us another couple each whilst he is at it. I'll have a 5 string, a fretless and a sterling please Macca!

As he is now expecting another kid in a couple of months time, he won't have time to play any of his basses anyway, so he can send me his 5 string Wal to start with.

on the right hand side so as not to clash headstocks!!!

It's not the guitarists headstock I have to worry about as my brother is a lefty too, but the singers head!!

I am 6'3" and the singer is 5'8" so if he strays too far left of centre stage, my headstock connects perfectly with his left temple!!!! - He still hasn't learnt his lesson. :D
