Hi guys! I'm a proud owner of a EBMM Luke II bought in 2005.
I've been feeling for a while the need to have something else togheter with it, maybe a more raw guitar, less gently and elegant, a rock beast! My first thought was on Axis, my rock dream for time, could there be anything better to try?

Yesterday I had the chance to try one for the first time and I got soooo deloused.

It was a beautiful orange model with maple board, looked perfectly finished just like any EBMM but my hand seemed very unconfortable on that neck comparing to the Luke's "V" and I didn't like the sound at all, I loved the jazzy cleans on the neck pu and the VanHalen rage on a heavy distorted bridge pu, but I disliked everything in between those sounds, too much maple to my tastes maybe?!?

What I want to say is: an Axis is truly an amazing guitar, but not at all my cup of tea, everything is subjective, so, try always EVERY guitar before buying it, it can be your dream guitar on a picture but you could be very disappointed by discovering it doesn't fit your hands/ears!

Rock and roll =)

p.s I'm looking forward to try a Silo!

I personally love the Axis, its neck carve and its tones. My EBMM collection is 100% Axis's and Lukes by the way!

I originally felt very similar. I missed the arm contour, neck was a bit bigger than I perhaps had expected.

But then slowly but surely, it grew on me and is now uber comfy and one of my main stage axes.
100% unadulterated rock tone at it's finest

Again, this shows how different we are while being soulmates as far as EBMM is concerned.

I'm a huge fan of Luke, so I gave that guitar a couple of tries, in different years. But I just can't cope with the V-neck, it's just not made for my hands...

Also, I'm not too much into EMGs....just not my world :(

I fell in love with a Silo right from the start, the whole thing felt as if it was made for me and my stupid little hands  Moreover, it offers the whole versatility range that I need (yeah, it's mainly Prog, mates :D ) . I just couldn't afford to buy one...

Then I got an extremely fair offer on an AXIS and bought it without having played it before  Though being of a completely different character (as compared to the Silo), I initially fell in love with it.....and it's not just the looks ;) Maybe it's due to the powerful bottom end sound and the edgy attack, which makes it a real rock'n'roll workhorse.

However, as exchange rates where good last year (from a Germany based perspective ;) ), I also ordered a fully loaded Silo through my New York dealer. And I love it also....it's like having two kids with completely different characters, but you love 'em both for what they are.

In the end, it's all coming back to all of us guys having different preferences and needs (and I'm not talking about sex :D ), which is good as we'll all have a unique tone and feel. I like the multi-personality aspect to this all

I had similar experience with Morse Y2D and Pet.

Love the look and colors could not bound with either neck or Pickup

BUT

IMHO a guitar needs time to be tame, so I'm not excluding giving those a try for a longer time, I mean longer than 10 mn demo in a shop where you can hardly hear yourself playing because there are tons of metalica fans around you :D

Now I suggest you try an AL MM90 I'm sure you will be surprised ;)

I love the pickups on the Axis, but he 2 & 4 position on the Super Sport are not to my liking. The three way is all I need.

Yeah, right...I experienced exactly this some years ago, when I checked out a SUB in a big german guitar shop.
Brother, I had about five 17-year-old bangers around me, who were all insanely shredding on all those cheapo Ibbys. I like shredding when Mark Tremonti does it, but I hate it when a bunch of sick bastard guitar player kids from hell do it simultaneously...

...the SUB was brilliant though :D
