Help! Amp DI

I've got a gig next week and I don't have a preamp yet so I might have to take my amp but the guys there won't want to mike it up so I was thinking of plugging in but using it like a DI to go into the mixing board. If I do that does the speaker on the amp still work? or can I keep the volume on the amp relatively low but turn it up on the mixing board?

Depends on your amp, but the speaker should still work.

As for the volume out, again it depends on your amp, but it's common to have the two independent, so that volume changes you make for you on stage monitoring are independent of the DI level.

What amp are you using ?
If it´s not a small combo or an old vintage amp, it might have a D.I. out.
