Hey guys, what's up. I want to ask u guys about amp modeling tech, well basicly is like this. A friend of mine has the boss gt6 and I used to have the zoom505ii, well for me it took me like 20 minutes? I think to get a metal up your ass lead, for him....well he is using my old 505ii lol...... This is mostly distortion-wise not modulation-effects...... I have seen lots of treads and whatnot about the cube amps the tech21 amps the spider..... well I tried the spider at sam ash... not enough, for me at least, its like it lacked something..... dunno really....... I havent played the other 2, I played a vox valvetronix and it was ok....50/50, Im asking cuz Im gonna buy an amp possibly the cube30 or the 15....not shure..... and Im a little worried about not getting enough metal type of sound ( like metallica's enter sandman). I saw once the px4d (toneworks...) if any one can give me feedback on this little guy.....thx

I had a Tech 21 Trademark 10, and loved it. It was the most authentic sounding modeling amp I had heard. I was really excited when the guys at the local guitar shop told me they were getting the head version in. I tried it out, and I was dissappointed in the sound. I did discover something interesting though. If you take the Trademark 10, and run effects send into the effects return of, let's say, a 5150 combo, it has the most incredible sound ever. The key with the Tech 21 is that the pre-amp of the unit is awesome, but their power amps sound like crap. If you were to take the pre-amp section from the effects send, and run that into a tube power amp, and a decent cabinet, you would have a real ass kicker.

Interestingly enough, Tech21 discourage use of tube power amps with their products, saying it would add to much compression.
However, as far as I know some people use Tech21 midi-controlled preamp with tube power amps to get a particularly "dense" types of distortion. Think Rammstein/Hypocrisy/Pain type sound. I know Paul Landers of Rammstein (fellow Music Man user) used PSA-1 with Mesa power amps, I believe Peter Tagtgren (Hypocrisy/Pain) does the same.

Hands down, the Pod XT plugeed into the Atomic Reactor 112 is the best sounding combo for amp modeling I have hever heard. I have two of them, and they smoke.

It works with every modeler on the market, too... not just the XT.

www.atomicamps.com

Check it out.

Gonna have to whip out my Johnson. Call me a mutant but I have two. The 250H's are great heads. The company is out of business now. Line6 crushed them in advertising. You can occasionally find them on the bay if you want. Digitech still supports them for repairs if something goes wrong.

The Trademark 10 is just the Tech21 SansAmp GT-2 pedal with a cabinet, power amp and speaker attached, so if you like everything about the Trademark 10 but the power amp, just buy the pedal and jack it into whatever you like... I use my TM10 for cleans and grist and love it for those kinds of tones. I've never really tried to do a metal thing through it (don't play much metal, me :) )

Well, for the money, a Line 6 Flextone 3 has great tone and FX. That amp sounds like it fits your requirements.

Hey guys I was earing the samples for the flextone and the vetta2 from line6....well let me tell you guys, and I may sound like a jerk, first of all the modulation effects are pretty cool on both and the pedalboard is awesome, but the distortions...well i didn't liked them, I mean the overdrives sounded good , but once u crank it up..its sounds muddy and the "grain" just seems too worked out..... I like a more "raw" type or distortion, I dont know maybe is cuz I grew up listening to old LPs and Im used to that "low fi" sound. What IM thinking is getting the trademark 30 and the mod and delay stompboxes from line 6 what do u think guys

?

Dude, was it from the Flextone 3 or the Flextone 3XL?? From everything I've read the if you are going to get a Flextone 3 the XL is the best one to get. I had just the Flextone 3 1x12, it was cool, but for the amount of playing that I do I'm lucky to be able to get the amp out once a week and play it load, ha like that can happen with everybody sleeping.

If you are thinking about a Flextone, head on over to the Line6 forum and read, be educated learn from others.

Good luck, Glenn |B)

Dude, get the Atomic Reactor!

Is plenty loud enough and it's a small 1x12 combo. It has a real tube preamp with JJ power tubes and a single JJ 12AX7. The Flextone sounds like a solid state amp, the Atomic sounds like a tube amp (because it is a tube amp). It puts the tube sag and compression back into the sound that the Line 6 stuff by itself just can't do.

Get a Pod XT or XT Live, and an Atomic amp. You won't be sorry. Go to the Line 6 board and search for Atomic Amp and you'll see what I mean. Overwhelmingly popular.

No te miento, hombre. Echale un vistazo!

It's hard to get 30w high-end modeling amp. Tech21 Trademark 30 is probably the best standalone amp you can get, although Roland Cube lovers may disagree with me.

Here's my suggestion: Atomic Reactor (18w or os of tube power) + Tech21 TriAC (3 channel SansAmp GT2). That way you get tube power amp section AND great SansAmp modeling preamp w/channel switching (Trademark 30 only has 1 channel). SansAmp PSA-1 (their midi-switchable rackmount preamp) would be even better, but it's significantly more expensive.
