Ok, I was at my local music shop and found a Traynor neodymium cab with a 15" speaker in it for a great price.

Right now I have a Markbass CMD121H and a Traveller 121H. The combo has the LM III head built in it, a 12 inch speaker and a tweeter. Nice on its own. Then teh Traveller 121H cab also has a 12 inch speaker and a tweeter. This is the rig I have been using for shows. Just the combo for practices.

But I wanted a deeper tone and when I combine the CMD121H with the 15 inch cab, I like it better. Seems richer and fatter.

So do I
a) Sell my Traveller 121H. Keep the combo and the 15 inch cab. Combo sounds great on its own. Convenient and its been working well.

Or

b) Sell my CMD121H. Buy a LM III head (or maybe a different Markbass head??). Then I can use either cab by themselves with the head (300W at 8 Ohm) or both cabs together (500W at 4 Ohm)

Id actually probably stick with what you have....although thats only because I keeping hearing 'its best to not mix speaker sizes'. Although in this case, its more of a 'Markbass designed the 112 combo and 112 cab to work together'.

Id stick with what you have, and look at maybe getting a different setup like a different amp head and 115?

Sorry, that doesnt help does it!

Why not use both cabinets if you like the sound of both.

If the Traynor sounds good, rock it! Specs are specs, your own ears are the best gauge for what's best. If one fifteen sounds that much better, go with option c.) get a separate head and a second fifteen!

Not sure I need to get a second 15. I think one 15 is enough.

But you are right...go with what sounds good.

For now, I will sit tight with what I have. One nice thing about buying used gear is that if I should in turn sell it, I won't eat as much of a loss as the first person who bought it new. Heck, I have even sold some used stuff for more than what I paid.

i'm in the same boat you are in, well similar boat.
i have a cmd121p and a ny121 and also have a lmIII for back up.
i found a killer deal on a gk412neo that i'm checking out tomorrow.
i plan on running the gk with the lmIII providing that i get it and going to keep the other stuff for rehearsing and smaller gigs.

it sure is a lot easier being a guitar player, one guitar with single coils and one guitar with humbuckers. one single 12 combo and a wah pedal and that covers every thing i have ever had to play.
