So, I was thinking about what my setup is going to be once my JPM comes into town and I started thinking about my amp situation. Currently, I'm running through a Mark IV combo widebody and I considered obtaining an acoustic amp for use with the JPM's piezo pup (running the magnetics solely through the Mark IV and the Piezo solely through the Acoustic). I have a stand for my Mark IV, but if I obtain an acoustic amp, I'm thinking that it won't fit in the space below my current stand.

Basically, I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions for (or knows of) an amp stand that will stack one combo atop the other without both amps needing to rest on one another. Ideally, I'm thinking that it would include some sort of a tilting pad for the lower amp so that the sound doesn't run straight into the audience when we perform, the amp on top should already be at an angle as well. Also, it would need to be a bit open so that I can access the back panel of the Mark IV- thinking that as it is heavier, it would be on the bottom of the stack.

I've looked all over the net for some online stores who might have such a thing, but no such luck. It seems that the only stands that are available through most companies are single-amp supported, only.

Thoughts?

I had that same problem recently. I needed a stand for my rack unit and my 2x12 for the times that I didn't want to drag my 4x12 out. I ended up just getting a couple of lengths of square tube steel and welding up my own stand. It's great because I didn't have to wait for someone else to design the perfect stand for me.

Alan,

Here's a solution for you that I use...utilize a set of roadcases...
get cases made for each amp, and then when you play put the amp on top of it's respective case...I use a Pair of Custom Audio Amplifiers 1x12's with my rack, and I put them on road cases so that they're about waist height. They call this technique de-coupling. Gets the amp off the floor to improve bass responseand overall tone. Plus you'll have it in a position to hear it better yourself.

Good Luck,

Alan, I have pretty much the same setup, only my MK IV is not the widebody model. I have an amp stand which raises and tilts the MK IV - I picked it up at Guitar Center - and my fender acoustic amp has tilt back legs so I use them and it fits perfectly beneath the MK IV. I'm not sure if this will work for you, but might be worth a shot.

I'd consider the cases heavily dude since if you're gigging and transporting, carrying an extra stand won't do jack to PROTECT your amps...protection is important.
