Hi Folks,

I am interested in getting either the 210 or the 115 in this series. I notice on the web that there is one in a silver face and another picture in the same black faced grill as its other BA amps.

Which package is correct?

Has anyone here tried them?

Thanks...

Most of the EBMM guys are Markbass people. Anyway, are you referring to the new BA series with the Neodynamium speakers? Those have a silver screen on them. The 15" model comes in 300 or 600 watt versions. They have a multi stage tube preamp and a MOSFET power amp along with a built in optical compressor. They range between $600-$1000 in price depending on which wattage you get. As far as I know, the only company that sells them (right now) is Sweetwater. They seem decent but you can get a lighter combo for about the same money. Even with neo speakers these guys weigh over 50 lbs. a piece. Plus Ampegs are now made in Vietnam and China (I'm not intending to start a war here, but this may be a legitimate concern for SOME buyers). Anyway, I hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies.

It is difficult to test and buy Markbass gear in NFLD, Canada as there are only a few decent shops around. I like the look of the new silver grill Ampegs - must try them out to hear if they sound as great as they look.

I know that most folks on the MM Forum have the amp head and cabinet combination, but I like the combos and I've already had some experience with them in the past. Maybe I should break tradition?

Cheers...

I know I may get flack for this, but I have never liked Ampeg save a few of their early tube heads which weigh a ton. They are good for one sound and that is just a bit too narrow for my tastes. In my opinion, their are several other combo's out there that would offer more variety and better tone. I love the Markbass and have an LMKII. I also have a GK 1001 RB combo though that has served me well.
