I'm beginning to research my options for a small combo/PA that would compliment my piezo equiped JP7. For the magnetics, I have a MESA Boogie Lonestar and a MESA F-100. I'd like to stay at no more than $500 for an acoustic amp/PA. If I play the piezo through one of my clean channels its not very convincing, nor did I expect it to be. I like the sound Petrucci gets on his "evening with" CD and the newer DT CDs, but realize he's probably going DI to board. My local GC only has Marshall, Fender, and Crate. My online research has me interested in the SWR Strawberry Blonde, or the Fishman Loudbox. I'm looking for simplicity, one channel, no effects, lots of headroom. Carvin has the AG100D, but it may be over kill for me.

Has anyone tried or own any of these amps (in particular SWR/Fishman)? The product reviews focus on acoustic/electrics as opposed to solidbody electrics. So, I'm not sure what to expect. Would a small PA (Carvin) work better with solidbodys?

Also, is the EB Stereo Cable what I need if I don't want two cables connected all the time? And, I can't find the EB Splitter Box for sale anywhere. Thanks ahead for any suggestions or comments.

PS: www.fishman.com has the piezo owners manual online that seems to be helpful if you want to learn more about the unit. This guitar is awesome. Thanks EB/MM!

I've currently got an Ashdown Radiator for my piezo needs, but I was foolish enough to try my JP through an AER amp. They are small amps, but have a great tone.

That SWR is a great amp. You need to get somewhere with a whole bunch of acoustic amps and check them out side by side before you buy one though. There really is a big difference ammong them. I know Trace Elliot used to make some pretty nice ones too. Are they any stores within driving distance that just specialize in acoustic sales?

There are a lot to choose from - Marshall's are good, the Fender Acoustasonics as well. My favorite when I tried them all out was the Trace Elliott - I think their 50W version fits in your price range.

I eventually opted for the Bose PAS since it could basically do everything I needed, but it's a little bit outside of your range... ;)

I put the piezo side of my Axis Super Sport (MM90) through an AER Domino combo. It sounds amazing. Even if its out of your price range now I'd save up and get an AER.
