Mick Karn - one of the greatest, most unique fretless bass players/musicians/stylists of our time, has sadly been stricken with cancer.

Due to the fact that he has worked on independent projects for most of his career, even at this stage of his life funds are tight. Bottom line: He needs financial help.

If you can contribute anything, even £1 to this effort, please do so. I have heard that Mick is more concerned with the well-being of his family than even himself. The cancer is stage 4 and has spread throughout his body.

Article about the situation here.

Direct link to fund here.

Mick has an absolutely inimitable style - something truly unique amongst fretless players. If you are able, please donate - Not just because he is an amazing bassist, but because he is human. Thanks for listening.

I just want to thank all those who posted replies and also to everyone who took the time to read this thread.

Not even the smallest contribution will go to waste.

Again, thanks for listening....

Mick Karn is indeed one of my favorite bass-players. A distinct style all of his own and a impressive fretless player. Please, lads, help him if you can. I know that Mick has had economical trouble for awhile and cancer is not helping him. Again, as I wrote in the first thread above, sorry for writing this here since this is no EBMM matter.

Sincerely//Jan

holy god, That is such sad news. Mick Karn was literally the main reason I ever started playing bass. I still can't rise to the level that he achieves so effortlessly though. What an awesome talent that man has! And to think that bass wasnt even his first instrument!
I have several dear friends and family members that have been stricken with the C. My gramps, great uncle and grandmother actually. Hopefully he can hack the chemo and be around for a few more years. I always wanted to meet the man that inspired me to pick up bass in the first place. Kickin in whatever I can for the fretless god when my paycheck gets in tomorrow.
