It would have been fun to go, but I have work, school and I just bought a house, so I don't have any spare cash for tix to CA.

>^..^<

Yes agreed.
Personally I'd rather spend the money on a guitar! ;)

I'm amp shopping right now. I think I've settled on a Marshall AVT275. I'd like to have Alex Lifeson's Hughes & Kettner rig, but I'm not in that $$ column yet (getting there)

Well, I'm still at home aswell... SLO is a bit too far from hometown Dessel, Belgium...

But I'm expecting something in the near future that'll ease the pain of not being in SLO... With a big thanks to Ernie! :p

Well here's the deal, foggy doesn't have a guitar and he's hit 1000 posts in like a week but you have a guitar, so your playing instead of talking :D

I would consider sth else. I have Marshall 150 AVT and for me the OD channel is TERRIBLE. Well I was a little bit stupid back then (I played guitar for 3 years so what in earth I knew about decent distortion sound  ) maybe consider buying some Line 6 Flextone III, they are quite nice IMO,

All the AVT's I have tried sound terrible, give the Line 6 Flextone a go, they sound great and are great Value for money.

yep 100 % on that one. I had problem with my ears when I was buying mine  or maybe I was stupid enough to think that Marshall = great

I'm home too. It would have been nice to go, but I just have other financial priorities right now. Not to mention, I really want to add another Pet to my arsenal. Anyway, I'm not really feeling bad about missing it. I would have loved to meet and jam with my fellow forumites. I would have liked to do the factory tour and take of on my own journey to see the Big Sur. But, other then that I'm pretty content about my decision to stay home and save the cash. I'll just wait for the Dubaldo Music open house...fire up that van with the beer tap, Pete. :D :D All jokes aside, I am having a great night, and wish everyone else on, as well.

Hey, maybe we could pass the time by posting pics of our equipment next to our favorite piece of fruit.

I quite like my AVT150. It's not the best amp on the planet but I got a big discount on it (RRp of £520, I paid £340). It really doesn't like too much gain though. I rarely go above 6 on either OD channel. OD2 is way to muddy but OD1 does a half decent EVH impression with careful setup on the EQ knobs. As for the effects...erm...I use delay on 3/10 with 5 on the timing and that's about it. I can't praise it's clean channel enough for the price though. The acoustic sim channel is OK but it does make your guitar sound like its fret buzzing when its not

My biggets beef with the AVT is that it sounds absolutely MINCE with any effects. I had a Boss GT6 which sounded terrific through headphones, but garbage through the AVT no matter how I hooked the two up. Really tinny, sterile and thin. I sold the GT6 and kept the Marshall.....for now. Was looking at the JSX combo and Mesa Boogie sometyhing or other 45. However, a little voice in the head says wait, save, and get teh CAE 3+SE and VHT 2150 plus speakers for them to blow up... Could take a few years to get that much money available, but I think it'll be worth it. That or a Soldano.
