I rarely go above 6 on either OD channel. OD2 is way to muddy but OD1 does a half decent EVH impression with careful setup on the EQ knobs. As for the effects...erm...I use delay on 3/10 with 5 on the timing and that's about it. I can't praise it's clean channel enough for the price though. The acoustic sim channel is OK but it does make your guitar sound like its fret buzzing when its not![]()
My biggets beef with the AVT is that it sounds absolutely MINCE with any effects. I had a Boss GT6 which sounded terrific through headphones, but garbage through the AVT no matter how I hooked the two up. Really tinny, sterile and thin. I sold the GT6 and kept the Marshall.....for now. Was looking at the JSX combo and Mesa Boogie sometyhing or other 45. However, a little voice in the head says wait, save, and get teh CAE 3+SE and VHT 2150 plus speakers for them to blow up... Could take a few years to get that much money available, but I think it'll be worth it. That or a Soldano.
yep that's I am talking about. AVT has a really nice clean channel and the effects are also quite nice, but the OD1 and the OD2 channels are just terrible IMO, they sound thin and almost like a buzzing of a bee or a hornet. You can forget about palm mutting with it... I was thinking about Line6 Flextone III or some Rivera combos, I would like Mesa Boogie but they are too expensive for me...
