While I enjoyed the Stingray while I had it, I'm simply a Bongo Man at heart.

The SR is currently making it's way to Ray Duke, but the Bongo he sent me arrived today. I took it to my friend Dave's house and played it through his Sansamp/Schroeder setup for a bit, but I haven't had a chance to play it through my EA rig.

Here's one mediocre picture of the happy meeting. I'll take some better pics when the torrential downpour ceases. I'm still anxiously awaiting my Dargie Delight, but this will help ease the pain while I wait. I've wanted a 4 string Bongo, and I've wanted a single H to complete the set. I like killing two birds with one stone. Metaphorically speaking, of course.

Time for a new avatar, too, I guess...

Wow, that didn't take long to arrive, it seems like you just agreed to trade two days ago. BTW, thats the Pearl guard that originally came with my Bongo, you should feel blessed.

How'd you sweet talk Ray out of that beauty? Nice one m'friend!

Heh--I said, "Yes." :D

Paul--The white pearl was a nice surprise. I was just expecting the plain white one in the photos I've seen. Ray shipped on Monday. I shipped yesterday due to confusion about a zip code. I'm not going to complain about 2 days from Texas to Georgia.

Tom--If it ever needs to leave, you've got dibbs. But, I assure you--that's a very big 'if.'

I hope Ray is as happy with the Stingray.

That was my first Bongo and it's a doozy. Glad it went to a good home, I gave it a LOT of thought before making a decision to trade. :D I'll get the SR on Friday according to Fedex........

Guess I need a new avatar?

Now Ray has to bring me his, um, 'Ray.

Very nice Jason. Much like the black obelisk in 2010, bongos seem to be spewing forth from Texas.

every time I see the h/s unlined fretless 5 in white...i pee myself,
just a little

Yeah even having dibbs doesn't help. I don't think they made too many of them either.

That single H looks good now that I finally quit looking at the white one long enough to see it. :)

Congrats to you and Ray for making each other happy.

Thanks Jason! I loved that Bongo and this SR you sent me almost makes me forget it. After a couple of tweaks this one plays amazingly, with low action. Lighter than my LE too. ;)

Did you say these are EBMM flats on this? I like 'em a lot even though I was prepared not to. Great bass!

That makes me happy. Make sure you weigh that sucker when you go to Jack's--doesn't he have a postal scale? I'm curious how much it actually weighs. I know it felt lighter than any of the Stingrays I've played in stores. I think the Bongo you sent me is lighter, though. :D

Yes, those are the Group III EB flats. I really liked the way they felt. I'm probably going to pick up another set today for the MD Bongo.

Before I change them out, though, I am going to record the 4H with Slinkys to compare with my 5HHp with Slinkys. Nothing major (the major recording projects only seem to get about 70% done before getting distracted), but I will compare the flat solo bridge H on the HH with the flat single humbucker as well as various other combinations.

I've called it Moby since day 1 for a reason. It truly is the white whale. It is every bit the classy monster it appears to be.
