Andy McKee is a great player. If you really are into his playing, you should listen to some Michael Hedges. I'm not knocking McKee when I say this, but he unquestionably ripped off techniques Hedges was doing 25+ years ago. McKee took some of those ideas and took them to another level.

I believe McKee says Hedges is his main influence. So it makes sense. If 15 years from now I become a famous guitarist(fingers crossed) people will definitely say I ripped off JP. I would be HONORED to be insulted in such a way haha. Btw, is there a thread discussing how to improve technique? I'm always watching videos on YouTube for this but I figure most of the people here have been in the game for a while and know what's actually worthwhile to invest time into. I can't wait to break the threshold I feel I can't pass. It's almos as if my right and left hand can't stay in sync with on another(when tryin to shred, amongst other things) Maybe my brain just can't handle it yet! Is this just "muscle memory" I need to develop?

Yeah man, Mckee really impresses me as a guitarist, but Hedges music is really powerful, and transcends technique.

Andy and I have become chummy....He has a jpx!

Oh right on! Would have never known! I saw him live when he opened for Dream Theater. I didn't recognize him at first because the dude has lost a TON of weight since recording that song drifting.(props to him) He's absolutely amazing!
