Just got hold of his latest cd- finally- been waiting ages for it, from the first listen I LOVE IT. which is not surprising, Andy is all melodies and tone. love his work. any of you guys here have this cd?

Hi Rob, I don't have it but I will look for it. A friend of mine who plays in a top 40 cover band met him at a seminar in Italy and kept in tocuh with him.
I saw a bootleg DVD of him playing and he's a definitely a great guitarist, very well-balanced in his playing.

Ciao
Marco

Yeah it's a good cd. I really like his playing. I saw him at the Mesa Boogie booth at the NAMM show in Nashville a few years ago and he seems like a genuinely nice person.

Timmons' work...

I dig Resolution, and it leaves a tasty remnance on the palette.

Honestly though, "That Was Then, This Is Now" is superior. In case someone doesn't know, it was the album released before this one on Favored Nations (Vai's label) and it's mostly a best of, with a few new tracks. It highlights where he's been in his career, as well as showing where he's going with the new studio tracks. It's a very exciting and well-rounded album, and I can't recommend it enough.

For some other groovin' records off of First Nation, check out Johnny V (he's jazzy, and my only complaint is a cover of Wind Cries Mary that kinda sucks) because he's a pretty rockin' player... and Dave Weiner's album is really good too. I actually recommend everything off of Favored Nations because it's really musical above all else.

About his latest CD ..wooh..I really like it, I think it's more organic than the other CDs..I can say that this CD is my fav album from him.

Looking forward to see him again live with his band, I met him twice before.

I love Andy. I took some lessons from him in Dallas about 10 years ago. Simply one of the nicest people I've ever met.

I really like the album a lot as well. I got Resolution as my first album of Timmons and it really got me into his playing. It's definatly very melodic and Satch like, but of course his own. I like his chord voicings and how he encorporates the melodies through chords and such. Which makes his right hand technique pretty interesting as I am watching Electric Gypsy (Hendrixness? :)).
I think Andy would LOVE the LUKE :D!

Going to have to get some of his stuff. I wish I could come up with and, of course, play something like that "Electric Gypsy." I'd die satisfied with myself musically if I could.

my mate saw a video clip with him on stage with other great players like joe satriani and paul gilbert. what was funny about it was that joe satriani was doing all the whammy stuff and AT was keeping up with him. then paul gilbert was shredding like nobodys business and AT comes along and wipes the floor clean of him. he can play super fast.......its scary!

IMHO Andy Timmons belongs in the "people who ought to play MM" category! However, his new disc didn't quite do it for me... doesn't make him any less of a musician though.

Cheers

Love this album...'Ghost Of You' is a fave. Sounds VERY like a Satch track but the tone is awesome so I'll let that go!
