I'm constantly surprised by how much the real-life experience of EBMM pearl finishes differs from the photos of them.

Today I traveled to a not-so-close EBMM dealer to check out a HS Bongo, just to see how it differs from my HH. Said Bongo was like Jack's, pearl blue with an abalone guard.

Dead sexy gorgeous. A couple of shades darker than I would have expected. I like it MUCH more than Carbon Blue Pearl.

Oh...and the verdict on the comparison? They're noticeably different. I'd buy one. Of each. :D

Doesn't make life any easier, does it?

I have a Sterling on order in Blue Pearl. I can't wait to get it. I'm having a bad waiting day. I too went on a 50 mile road trip today to a place in southern Maryland called "Hot Licks". It's kinda like a GC. . I played a couple SR's and also a 20th SR5 that was beautiful and sounded great. The people there were very helpful and they wipe every guitar down as soon as you're finished and put it back up. I thought that extra step was awesome. No Bongo's though....

That's cool. I wiped the bass I tried down myself. And gave it a needed truss tweak (love that capstan wheel...). I also bought a set of strings while I was there. I believe in rewarding people for giving you their time, especially if you walk into the store knowing that you're not going to buy. Just ask Pete....

It's a karma thing. I'm not particularly religious or a believer in mysticism, but I can't help but notice that Mobay45 up and offered me a test-drive of his Bongo 5H in response to my joking post last week, just because he's a nice guy.

Yea we bought some strings and a couple shirts to show our appreciation. I got a real puzzled look from the guy hen I asked if he had any Dargies. I had to explain that one to him. I will hopefully get to try one out somewhere.

One way to remember that finish is first think of Carbon Blue Pearl.

You wouldn't say Carbon Pearl Blue, would you?

Then lop the Carbon off, and it's Blue Pearl.

Also abbreviated BP, just like fearless leader.

Unless, um, it's actually Pearl Blue.

When I ordered Nefertiti, I had thought of ordering a Blank-Plank Blue Pearl Bongo4hP instead. Figured a restraining order might be in the works so went with the egyptian smoke. :)

That pearl blue is a great color once you see it up close. I have been debating on a Sterling in PB for a while. My Blue Dawn is about 3 weeks out I am told though so I will wait until it arrives.

True Timmy I do, but I love to collect almost as much as I love to play them. I love the subtle differences in tone each has. :D
