Another MM lookalike on the bay

I must admit I am a little suprise that Musicman seemingly do nothing to sort these copyists out, I have read about Rickenbacker and Fender taking people to court over it. Perhaps they do but don't shout about it.

Mind you the poor fools who buy them expecting to sound like Flea or whoever must get a shock when they plug in ;-)

It takes time to take someone to court. So if he keeps it up, I'm sure EB will send him a nice little certified letter. I wouldn't pay him a dime for that bass.

EB probably not concerned....no real competition....little mosquitoes....just brush 'em aside...that's my toss.

What makes you think nothing is done?

Interesting question, Jon. You hear a lot about Rickenbacker and Fender and some other companies filing suits against the copyists, but never anything about EBMM going after the guys who obviously violate the EB trademarks.

I've wondered about it more than once but also wondered if it was appropriate to ask. Is it?

I really don't know anymore than this: When an instrument like that is seen, it is reported to the company's legal dept. I do get the feeling we don't take this lightly, and if you don't stop them, a million more will start coming out of the woodwork.

Most players I know won't buy a knock off, but I guess there are plenty that will and not enough rapid ways to cease production and sales of such infringements.
