I've been thinking about switching p'ups in my HSS maple board Silo Special - looking to warm it up but without it going muddy. From available sound samples, I'm really diggin' the tone of SD's SH-55 Seth Lover, which is only available with a chrome/gold plated cover.

Questions:

1. Would this type of covered pickup fit well through the pick-guard cutout?

2. I think these must be mounted directly to the guitar via screws? Would a shim be required for correct height?

3. Would there be any wiring problems, i.e. to the Silent Circuit or to split coil with the middle pickup?

4. Any other issues this p/u would present? I realize it's a non-potted p'up, and slightly microphonic (partly due to the cover), but according to the SD site, only through high gain amps over 50 watts.

Thanks for your insights.
