Looks like I have a chance to purchase one of these for about 200.00 CDN, and the thing is only 3 months old...I was just wondering if anyone else out there has one. I'm getting a little bothered lately by all of the stomp boxes I have and their power supplies (real mess) so this would clean things up nicely. I was thinking of getting either a Vox Tonelab SE or the Pod LIVE XT, but this is a huge savings for me, plus I still have an amp and cab modeller with my V-Amp 2.0...

Raz,

I had one for a couple of months and sold it. It was a nice unit and worked well, but just didn’t do it for me. I think part of it was there were so many sounds that I spent more time jacking around with it than I did just playing. I also found that I only used a couple of settings and the rest just went to waste. Last but not least you need a separate pedal to go through the presets and I did not care for that.
Hope that helps.

I had a GT-5 and a GT-6 I liked em well enough, it was cool having all those settings and effects at my feet, but as Axis Sport said I spent half my time messing with it and not playing. I eventually got rid of them. I really only consistently used chorus, delay, reverb, eq and compression anyway. I just got some good stompboxes and I'm happier this way. Less tweaking, more playing. I always found the Boss processors to have a moderate tone sucking effect too, with a nice topping of digitalness that I could never shake.

The unit has banks of sounds. There is a button that you have to push to move through them. If you are bare footed you can do it with your toe, but forget it with shoes on. The other option is to purchase a seperate pedal that allows you to move up and down through the banks. If you don't have this extra pedal then you will have to reach down with your hand.

I've found that most of the multi-effect floor units I've used have been a pain to use in that way. It was easier for me to use a rocktron voodoo valve rack unit with no pedal; turn the dial, push the button, you're there. A whole different matter if you have to do mid-song changes though. After having tried lots of them I still think a well designed (designed by you) pedalboard with your favorite stomp-boxes is still the best way to go.

Well I purchased the ME 50, 200.00 CDN, and at first I was a little, you know...man I don't like this, cause I had to determine the best place for it...in the loop or direct to the amp...well after a small struggle, I finally landed sweet tone...ah I love it. Now I wanted to keep the V-Amp 2.0 in the loop, and I also kept the EQ, and I put MY compressor in line with the ME 50 into the direct input. The Boss' comp, sucks...anyway, I love the tone, and I can now get rid of a whole slew of pedals. I still may keep my Screaming Demon Wah and the Whammy, but the rest are history.

I just purchased and ME-25 and messed with it last night the peddle's are not that bad for me anyway i'm a size 8 1/2 for some one with bigger feet yeah they would have a issue.
Anyone who has had a few Amps in there day or a few in there possesion like i do have a extra twin peddle switch more than likely.
as far as messing around with it i have had rack mounts too I tend to like having something at my feet. I watch Eric Johnson go through all his stomps he's old school and He keeps it pretty basic in the loops of what he has for stomps. This gear has all i need to do just about all i would care to do it's just a matter of lineing up the presets
and storing a library for variations. I have a Netbook that I use just for getting it all done only down side is that the Sonar 8.5 wont install there so i have to resort to using
Audacity to do any recording is i choose to use the netbook in that way. of course i have other alternatives. i can alway's use my studio desktop o my portable Korg D4
So Overall it really is as good as what you can do with it and how you use it.
It's a great tool for practice or stage under 200.00 it's worth every penny.

I'm just a average guy with a small collection of gear and I play as a hobby

If my Son who is a professional Artist likes it then I know I got something.

There I think I just promoted a Boss product :)

Makes no diff to me

There is always someone in the world who can take a positive thought or statement and turn it into something negative.

I paid no attention to when this thread was started should i have cared probably not. I renewed it with something that someone could use.

I'm just a average Joe guy not in the business of selling anything to anyone.

And I'm in love with my hobby of playing guitar I have nothing to gain here what hell give a 55 yr old guy a break perhaps you could learn something from me. like thinking before make an attempt to embarass someone.

And that is my job.

Just kidding.

I'm sure Beej, like me, sometimes wonders where people even FIND these 5 year old threads. He didn't say anything negative - we just try to maintain our sense of wonder.

Me-50

I don't care how old the thread is, if people are using the ME-50, then that's all that matters to me. LOL

I was skeptical of the ME-50 myself until I tried one. I was in the local music shop looking for a DD-3 or DD-7 at the time when one of the dudes who work there asked me if I'd ever tried the ME-50, as it was almost the same price as a single BOSS pedal. I tried it, and immediately decided on buying one. Of course I went home and checked Craig's List and found one for $50 less than retail in pristine condition.

I run stereo through an A/B-Y to a Vox AC15C1 and a Line 6 Spidervalve 112. My pedal chain is very simple; Fulltone OCD and a Morley Volume pedal. I have been using an old GSP-21 Pro rack unit but it's just too noisy and obsolete, so I decided to get some new/recent gear.

I also needed something portable to use with the dry tube amps at various rehearsal spots that we use. So the BOSS ME-50 was perfect. The other great thing is being able to practice with the unit just using headphones. Really good for those who want to practice silently with an AUX input for playing any music you may be learning/playing along to. Nice options.

I love this unit now and have got nothing but praise for my tone from every player that has heard it. With the right tweaking, you can get an almost exact duplicate TS-808 overdrive sound from the drive section. The MOD section I rarely use, maybe just some light chorus or vibrato here and there. The Delay section is almost identical to a DD-3, not quite, but still pretty awesome for a $150 unit. The DD-3 by itself is almost that much to buy.

Overall I totally recommend the ME-50. Nice little unit.
