Well this is my first post in the dark side!
I've always loved Bass, but if I started to read all the threads on this side as well I would have no life and my house would be filled up with EBMM guitars and basses as well haha.
Anyway, myself and my friend (drummer) want to put together a band doing some covers and also possibly some originals down the line. Let me start off by saying that my favorite Bass player of all time is Dave LaRue!!! So there you go. I definitely want to tackle some Steve Morse Band material. Me and my drummer like a lot of different music, but mostly centered around progressive rock. So we have a few examples of what we would want to cover and the type of bass player that would fit nicely: Deep Purple, Rush, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Andy Timmons Band, Steve Morse Band, Symphony X.
This is just a few bands we are in to and would like to play some of the material. We dont have a singer and I cant sing and play at the same time...at least yet haha. I play mostly the lead work. We are NOT the best musicians. Both of us are in our mid-20s, and have a good time in the studio with some beers and try to play some GOOD music.
Anyway, let me know if anyone around the NYC area is looking to jam and have some fun. Hopefully we would like to take it further down the line. I'm pretty busy after summer as I will be working and finishing up my degree, but there is always some time for music during the week.
