Although I've never owned one, I have sampled a few. I still like the familiar feel of the unfinished neck. I've also kind of liked the theory of owned two great balls instead of 1 ULTRA ball. Kinda hard when there is no wrong answer/choice.

VIVA les BALLS!

Not all BFRs have finished necks. AFAIK, only the JP BFRs have finished necks. Do I prefer one over the other? No. Not necessarily. I still love the regular Luke. I still love the regular JP6 even thought the BFR version is so amazing IMHO. I still love the Silo Special. You're right. There is no right answer. It's all about choices, as BP might opine.

Most will be shocked by this, but I prefer the non-BFR JP's to the BFR's. I traded a Mystic Dream JP6 in on a Trans-Black BFR JP6 and honestly wish I hadn't. It's not that the guitar doesn't sound great, but it just doesn't have the same "feel". I found I missed the unfinished neck and the arm scoop that made the JP series special in the first place.

You know guys, actually I don't really love maple tops, but it's just personal taste, I don't like chocolate too! And I don't even like guitars with pickguard, or, I prefer the non-scratch plate ones! =)

hard to tell, i don´t own a BFR and only played the JP6BFR about 15 minutes. for me the unfinished EBMM necks are the best necks you can get and that´s what i was missing with the BFR JP. the guitar sounded great, but i prefer the unfinished necks.
i should have ordered a rosewood neck BFR JP, that would have been the killer. the rosewood necks are so smooooth and this combined with the body of the BFR...wow. sadly i had no money at the time BP offered this option.

I dunno ... every guitar is different, and some are just special. I've got some of each that are phenomenal, and I wouldn't want to part with any of them. They're all my favourite at some point each month.

I like all Balls, but I must admit that since getting my first BFR and my 25th, I am GASing primarily after more BFR models. Mostly for the tone block.

Take that, BP! Seriously though, did you mention once that the 25th would come in various colors at some point?

If someone wants to send me a BFR Luke I'd love to do an honest A/B comparison. :D

Vanilla ice cream is way more popular than chocolate.

This is a silly thread. Most that are answering dont have much experience.

Co you prefer chocolate or vanilla?

well, i work 100m from the chocolate factory, in fact, we do all the logistics and transport stuff for them. i've done everything, from overseeing work to loading see-freight containers box by box. i have seen more chocolate in a couple of years than most people could in several lifetimes.
i prefer vanilla.

but generally speaking, i think most people would love the BFR version of their favorite instrument, with exception to the BFR JP6, where some design choices have been made. they are in fact, 2 different instruments.
then it comes down to comparing vanilla (yay!) to chocolate (boo!)

and to me vanilla wins for it's simplicity and trueness to it's roots.

I have to admit that I have played a few of the different BFRs and the one that just completely knocked me out was a Koa Luke, I sat there thinking hmmm which organ could I donate to Poppa's charity in exchange for it. But for the most part I love my jp7 LE and happy to stick with it, well at least till my SMY2d shows up lol
