DiMarzio Tone Zone ...I'm sticking them in the guitars we have on the road..Going Old School..When I get back home...I'm sticking them in my Axis's..I hadn't played them in awhile..was using EMG's..81's,85's,60's...even have some older stuff with 58's...Ibanez,Kramer etc. etc..My Zion was loaded with an 89 in the bridge and 2 SA's which is the setup I'd stick in a Luke..if & when I get one...But passive....But I'd go with the DiMarzio Tone Zone

Weird.

I WAY preferred the Tone Zone 7 over the Evolution. By miles and miles. The Evo sounded horrible to me.

FTR the PAF 7 is very nice too. :)
That's the thing: it's all about preference. However, I think we all agree that the Evo does have definition going for it!
I have a "reverse combo" on my 7-string as well: a Blaze Neck in the bridge position and a PAF7 by the neck - a killer combo (which actually led me to my experiment of putting a Breed Neck in the bridge position and an Air Classic Bridge by the neck ).

Ah yeah, the PAF7 is excellent, along with the Air Norton, one of my favourite neck pickups.

MILLIONS of pickups!

that's what's SOOOOOOOOOO cool about dimarzio they really describe every nuance of the sounds on the pickupsand specs! and give sound clips, also they do offer an exchange policy,i gotta' say people badmouth the tone zone for bass it is bass heavy but VERY focused not mush but tight bass and a kick in the pants good! They put the custom wounds in the evh models and according to dimarzio they are the closest to the tone zones if you were looking for a replacement,(do you like eddies sound?)I have them in a few of my axis and ALL my petrucci's I really dig 'em they still have lots of definition in the chords and a great lead sound for single note passages, make sure to get 'em in the "f" spacing they line up better in the trem area! You won't be dissapointed!!
