I guess it's bound to happen, but I'm really dreading the first ding on mine. It's so beautiful and shexy that I want to just keep it in is case. But it sounds so friggin awesome that it's demanding it be gigged.

I don't have a Dargie, but I managed to put a small ding in my 30th Anniversary Stingray the first day I had it. Still not sure what I bumped into :(

Oh well, now that it's not a virgin I don't have to worry about the first ding anymore, right?

Wow -- what a relief. I was so worried I was going to read this thread and find something terrible. I guess that begs the question of why I opened it in the first place.

Since dings are inevitable here's my wish that all the dings on everyone's Dargies are honorable badges of gigging and have a good story behind them. Or at least a few martinis.

This thread is an example why most of the basses that I buy are used basses. Unfortunately that has not been the case with my new DD, my 2006 ltd black & gold Bongo, & my 2005 ltd buttercream SR HS. On that note, I'm glad that the DD shipped in a non-ltd. MM case rather than the 2006 & 2005 special ed. cases. How pathetic is it when one is reluctant to get their cases dinged up?

my DD hasnt been dinged yet, but my 30th has a chip on the headstock from changing stance and smacking into my guitarists vintage Les Paul custom. He lost that battle  As for the cases, I dont care if my 30th case is beat to hell, its a case. Its the bass I worry about, but even then, a ding is a sign of use and has a story behind it!

I have no doubt mine eventually will get a ding. It is to be played, not displayed. At first I will curse, then I will get over it and be glad my DD is not cloistered.

Somehow, the side of the nut on mine got a little chip taken out of it. :(

It's really strange, because I've mostly kept it in the case, and I haven't banged it into anything. It's possible it came from the factory like that, and I just didn't notice it at first because it's on the end of the nut next to the G string, so it's not visible while I'm playing (it's on the bottom of the nut when it's in playing position). At this point, it's mostly cosmetic, but when I first saw it, I literally felt like throwing up.

Oh well, I suppose if it really drives me crazy I can get the nut replaced. EBMM can do that for me if I send it in with some $$$, right?

Yup! If you bought it new from a dealer (which you probably did), it's very much under EBMM's one year warranty.
