My sweaty hands are the reason I can't get along with painted necks. I had to sand down the varnish off the back of the neck on my JP6

Sweaty hands are better than hairy palms, or is it? I remember Paul Gilbert once mentioning the reason for his cool little tassels hanging off the neck of his RG, keeps his palms dry.

Yeah, I have ridiculously sweaty hands too. My sweat is also evil, hi-test sweat that seems to quickly react with metal hardware on my guitars, so I wipe down my guitars regularly after each time I play. I've also had to thoroughly clean the hardware of some guitars that were profusely sweated on.

My sweat kills acoustic strings and turns them green almost immediately, so I switched to Elixirs on my acoustics and that fixed the problem. On electrics, I'm not a fan of Elixirs, so I stayed with regular strings and just wipe the strings after every time I play. Sometimes I keep a handtowel handy on the particularly sweaty gigs.

I haven't tried any of the various products (string cleaning solutions, etc) but the new-ish Ernie Ball wipes look interesting.

As I mentioned before, try the Coated Slinkys. Great strings, last for ages. They do acoustic coated slinkys too (I love the phosphor bronze ones).

Everlast phosphor bronze acoustic strings are my favorite!!!
