Just curious, but I am seeing underlined words in member posts every once in a while. When you move your cursor to the underlined word, small ads pop up. I had never noticed this before! Is this something I have missed in the past or is it new?????

Yeah, I hate to tell you but that's been a feature since they switched to the new forum software. Things like EBMM and BP and sr5 all get the special treatment. :)

Yea, I found it when someone typed local in another post. Seems to only work once in a while. I typed local in this post and it didn't do it when I submitted it. I just came back to edit this.

I don't think that's what he meant, as ads don't pop up with those terms, just an explanation of what they are (EBMM = Ernie Ball Music Man).

He may have some adware/spyware type junk. I'd recommend running Malwarebytes and/or MS Security Essentials on your machine and see what it/they find.

It's intelliTXT...annoying at the very least... A few forums I use have it.

One of my other forumites sent me this info though I haven't tried it yet...the links haven't driven me sufficiently crazy yet I guess...

IntelliTXT is an "in-text" advertisement platform developed by Vibrant Media, and is an example of keyword advertising. Website authors insert a script into their pages which calls the IntelliTXT platform when a viewer views the page; this script then finds keywords on the page and double underlines them. When holding the mouse over the double underlined link, an advertisement associated with that word will pop up.How to get rid of them on ALL web pages you visit? Three ways I am aware of.

First, disable javascript in your browser. That solution works, but it also sucks, because a lot of web page features are also disabled.

With IE, try adding the following entry to your restricted sites list in the options for security settings: http://*.intellitxt.com, and http://*.kontera.com

For me, I use Firefox, and have settled on Adblock Plus — for annoyance-free web surfing Download it, install it, and add *intellitxt.com and *.kontera.com as two of the blocked sites. Adblock is an add-in to your browser, and it does a GREAT job of stopping a lot of annoying junk. Those little green underlines will never show up again. But the best thing, is that when you use it to block a site, the ad no longer tries to load before you can view the web page. In other words, the web page loads a LOT faster.
