I'm in the market for a standard Morse and was gunna probably carry out a couple of minor modifications - mostly moving controls around.

I was just looking for a picture of the routing... Anybody?

I feel like I see the inside of that guitar every few weeks. (One of these days I'm just going to stop messing with it.)

That's perfect!

Thanks very much!

So.... Who's modded their Morse? I'd love to but nobody's sold me one yet :-S

EDIT: Hope you don't mind I saved that photo, I won't do any freaky stuff with it but it'd be useful to have, lol.

No problemo, hold onto it.

That's when I'd pulled mine apart to put in a piezo, route a battery cavity, and had the neck lacquer removed and the neck re-shaped by our on Tommy Alderson. I've tried different pickups & bridges in there and different switching- series/parallel/split, 5 way selector, different capacitors/resistors/inductors, etc.

More or less it's back to stock now, except I have a coil split toggle in there (for the bridge & neck), the split coils & bridge single coil are wired to a silent circuit to reduce the hum, and I have a noiseless pickup for the neck single (Bill Lawrence L45).

I have done some minor mods to my Morse as well. I changed the tuner knobs to white pearl and on my Morse it looks incredible.

I have always done some pickup swapping (not as extensive as Beej though) I kept the Morse neck hb and swapped out the two singles and bridge HB for a variety of Duncans. I still haven't found that magical mix though so I will be testing out some new things pretty soon.

There's plenty of Morse pics here

I removed the 3-way switch in my 2 Morse's, replaced it with a 5-way switch, and rewired the pickups in the following configuration.

5-Way Switch (Replace the 3-way level)
1. Bridge Humbucker
2. Bridge Humbucker and Activate 3-way Middle Single Coils Toggle
3. Activate 3-way Middle Single Coils Toggle
4. Neck Humbucker and Activate 3-way Middle Single Coils Toggle
5. Neck Humbucker

3-Way Middle Single Coils Toggle
1. Single coil closest to Bridge
2. Both Single Coils
3. Single Coil Closest to Neck

2-Way Toggle
1. Activates Bridge Humbucker with any combination

Beyond that I am done. I'm going to wait for a Morse with the Game Changer. Hopefully, at some point, EBMM will sell just the Game Changer parts and I can update my current Morse's.

I was thinking of turning it into a sort of HSS.

Probably keep the stock pickguard as is, then have another with DiMarzio AT1 and two Cruisers with a volume and tone knob, a 4PDT (petrucci) switch to switch between the AT1 and neck Cruiser petrucci style with the split in the middle then a second switch that adds the middle Cruiser to whatever and puts the middle on it's own.

I like Strat knobs too. I really want a Morse ATM haha.

Hah!

I keep saying "One more small thing, then that's it ..."

i used to say that with my strats... i have one that i built from the ground up for myself (ie it's from plank to player) and i was in that thing all the time trying this or trying that and i've even refinished it probably 4-5 times just because i got the bug for a different color- (this all changed when i got my ebmm) but i tinker all the time with my gear and if it's not mine it's someone elses as i've become known amongst friends to do pretty good setups and mods... so i totally feel your pain. Some of us have that tinker mentality... but then again i say all of the greats did too... now i'm just waiting for my playing to catch up to theirs... LOL!

Indeed, indeed.

LegGodt- that's a very interesting way of setting it up. At one point I had a toggle to put the singles in parallel, so I could quickly get a quacky sound. But it makes more sense to do it like you have there.

With the noiseless neck single, I find I'm now using it like Morse does, just to drop the volume of the other pickups (I've set it as low as it'll go). Whereas I'm using the bridge single more as a single.
