I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Yamaha BBT500H head.

Power amp: Class-D circuitry, 500W @ 2 ohms
Preamp: All-digital signal processing, 11 sound types, 5-band semi-parametric tone controls (variable frequencies)
Effect section: Compressor, output limiter, noise gate, crossover, speaker simulator
Output level/impedance: 500W RMS/2 ohms, 250W RMS/4 ohms
Dimensions: 14-7/8"W x 3-7/16"H x 10-7/16"D
11 lbs.

The features make it sound pretty tempting, and Bass Player gave it a decent review. I've got Peavey 210TXF(4ohm) and 115BXBW(4ohm) cabs and driving 500watts into them with my Bongo 5 is something I'd love to hear. The price is right so I might just pull the trigger.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I've played through these amps a few different times. I really don't generally get into the whole "modeling" craze, but of the all-digital amps I like this one the best. There are usable amp models in there and you're given enough adjustability to get a lot of good sounds. I can't really say that the patches really sound like the amp that it's supposed to be emulating, or that you couldn't even achieve the same effects with a good equalizer, but there are some good sounds in it. It probably wouldn't be my first choice in amps but it wouldn't be a last resort either.

I assume you're looking at the Musician's Friend sale, so you get 45 days to make your decision. What do you have to lose?
