Jut curious as to why I don't see much love for aguilar?

I use a db750 and db212 but I may be swapping that out for 10's soon.

Although I'm really beggining to find that amps dong matter much to me, it's mostly the bass and way I play it, and I feel everything sounds good as long as I use the right bass and finger style.

I have tried GK but have seen way to many problems with them.

Tried markbass, had a few problems with mine, loves te vle and other knob, tone was great just not my style

Tried ampeg, feel ss are cheap though I like the graphic eq and the tube heads can be a little too dark.

Aguilar is one of the last American companies and I find their db750, warm smooth yet has brightness, though I compared my lm to a ag500 for the few seconds my little mark would stay on, I found the markbass to have more soul, definatly made the ag500 sound sterile, markbass was warmer.

Anyone else here using aggy?

I bought my first aguilar gear one day when I was looking for something small, I had an 810 at the time. Something smooth for some
of the blues jazzy stuff I was doing and the db112 was pure perfect. I loved the tone more than the 810 which is why I sold the 810

I use Aguilar cabinets and their Tone Hammer pedal.

Aguilar makes amazing amps, but they also make amazing cabinets, which is a rarity!

I would keep the 2x12, I have two 8 ohm DB212s, and I really do prefer that 12s sound. Aguilar really did get it right with their 12s.

I do like their 10s cabs as well, they are excellent, but for me the 12s just seems perfect.

I went down the Ampeg route and became bored very quickly, plus it didnt sound as good as what I was expecting. I have quite a few cabs and 2 (3 soon hopefully) amps. Bought the Ampeg 8x10, hardly used it, and got a really good offer to trade it in for the two Db212s brand new ordered in, (Chocolate Thunder) plus I got the official covers. Never looked back....Aguilar really do shine above the competition whens it comes to boutique bass amps and cabs.

Keep that 2x12 dude! And the amp! Get a lightweight amp for when space is tight and weight is an issue then you have choice :)

Ive owned an AG500SC, and a couple Aggy cabs, a DB210 and GS212.

In all honesty the GS212 was one of the sweetest cabs Ive used. Prob in my top 5 and in the last 4 years Ive tried hundreds of setups.

I have the obscure S210 cabinet (not GS). It is an awesome cab, deep and full sounding, well made, modest price (I got it used). Bass Player gave it a stellar review when it first came out, along with the S410 and another S cab I think. They were covered in dark gray carpet rather than black. For whatever reason the bass players didn't buy 'em, they did not sell well, and were discontinued. But I love it, would not part with it, and it sounds great with my Sterling. :)

BP,I don't know how you blew out the horn in your cab, but i use an GS412 and i have run it bridged @1000 watts.Awww the headroom, and IMO is the best sounding cabinet i've used so far. And like Travis, have used a bunch.
For me, it's my single cab solution.

I've been using an Aguilar DB680 and a DB728 for the last ten years as my pre/poweramp. Lately I'm using that along with a Bergantino NV215 or a Berg NV412. Every now and then I'll play the Berg with my original Blue Line SVT.

I love the older tube Aguilar stuff.

In the UK, Bergantino and Aguilar are still classed as quite boutique...more so the Bergantino. Obviously Aguilar are getting very big, so you are seeing more and more of it.

I think a lot of the bassists in the UK see the Aguilar cabs as a huge step up from Ampeg....I know I did when I tested them out. Much more clarity, but still able to do rock n roll.

I LOVE Markbass amps, I think they set a benchmark. But, I havent tested the cabs enough to make any reviews on them. If I hadn't bought the LM3 on its own, I would now go and get the 12 Combo and add a NY121. But, I got a very very good price on a Tecamp M212, the lightest 2x12 I've ever picked up. That cab should have been the price of two Markbass 1x12s! I won't reveal what I paid, but a UK supplier had to sell their stock onto another supplier.

MB LM3 + Tecamp 4 Ohm M212 is VERY loud, clear, punchy, with a great horn. Plus, weighs about 50lbs in total. I havent tested the Rays through it yet, but Im going to! :)

I own a MB LMII head and have played several Aggie pieces. MB offers very fair bang for the buck, but Aggie is simply in another class, plain & simple. Then again, their tone philosophy is very different from MB.
